Sensei Steve Wilkinsons new Kata Bunkai Blog

Please take time to view Sensei Steve's blog. Understanding the application of Kata is fundamental to being able to perform the Kata properly. It enables you to visualise each move as it would be used in practice.

I have also put a link in the side bar.

Here is how Sensei Steve describes himself in his blog:

Stephen Wilkinson
2nd degree karate black belt with less of an understanding of Kata application than one would like. Hence, this blog. If you know anything about kata / forms application irrespective of style let me/us all know. Post it here. Thanks in advance. Oh by the way, I'm married and a father of one but that's not important right now.

Frank Newton Article in Traditional Karate Magazine

As everyone should know, Sensei Frank Newton is the head of our organisation, The Isle of Mann Karate Federation. Here is an intersting article about Sakki published in March 2007's Traditional Karate Magazine. This magazine can be viewed online and past editions can be downloaded for free. An excellent site and magazine. I have put a link in the side bar for those wanting to register.

King James Comprehensive Arts Week, July 2007.

Sensei Dave Blackburn is a teaching assisitant at King James 1st Comprehensive School at Bishop Aukland. As part of their Arts Week he was asked if he could hold sessions on Karate. The event was extremely succesful, with a number of Senior Grades volunteering with Dave to give an insight into Anshin Ryu Karate to a group of students from the school.

Here is a clipping from the schools paper and a few photos of the day. Thanks to all those who helped out.

Good bye Anya

Just got back from a weekend with family and checked my email to find the following in my in box for the club. I am sure you will all join me in wishing Anya all the best for the future and agree that she will be missed. (Especially that mean punch of her's).

Dear Dave,
I am sorry, I can no longer come to the Karate classes. Circumstances have forced me to move back to Germany. Please give my regards to everybody in the Club.
I have really enjoyed training with you and hope to find a club near my new home to continue what I have started with you. Thank you very much for everything.

Could you please ask Linda to get in touch with me? She should have my contact details. But I don’t have hers.

Best regards

Anja Schultz
